The Oxford Forum

The Oxford Forum is a student run organisation which encourages discourse and debate within Oxford, allowing students to engage with a diverse range of issues.

The Executive Committee

President - Jake Davies

I’m Jake, a third year undergraduate studying History & Politics at The Queen’s College. I’ve been at the Forum for over a year now, serving as Deputy President in Trinity Term 2018, during which time I personally organised and chaired two panel discussions: one on how the Labour Party best represents labour in the 21st century, and the other on the UK housing crisis. Aside from the Forum, I’m admin of a popular meme page dedicated to New Statesman journalist Stephen Bush, and I’m also an avid football fan.

Treasurer - William Prescott

I am a third-year DPhil student at Univ. Originally from Adelaide, Australia, I moved to the UK for my doctorate on the interwar British Conservative Party. Since arriving in Oxford, I have passed my time by sitting on too many committees (including as the Forum Treasurer and as the VP of the Univ MCR) and travelling around the country on debating tournaments. On occasion I even works on my thesis.

Women’s Officer - Anisha Faruk

I’m Anisha, a third year History undergraduate at The Queen’s College. I previously served as Women’s Officer in Hilary 2018 and I’m excited to take up the role again! I’ll be working to ensure representation of women on our panels. I’m also involved in student politics, having chaired the Labour Club in Trinity 2018, and have a keen interest in journalism.

Deputy President - Adrian Holle

I’m Adrian, a third-year undergraduate at Exeter studying Ancient and Modern History. I have been involved with the Forum on and off for over a year, as a Speaker Seeker and Deputy Treasurer. I have helped to organise a few debates, including one on the polarisation of media narratives. I believe the Forum is a really great way to foster cross-party debate and help reduce that sort of political polarisation. Outside of the Forum, I am involved with various other Oxford political societies, avidly read history books and am a die-hard Arsenal fan.

At the moment, I am also temporarily acting as the Internet Officer, managing this website and the Forum’s online accounts. Outside of my role at the Forum, I am usually seen cycling to and from the Oxford ice rink past midnight to play ice hockey.

Emily Knott

I’m Emily, a Biomedical Sciences finalist at Lincoln College, and I’ll be joining The Forum’s Speaker Team this term. My previous experience organising events ranges from chairing an Entertainments Committee to my roles as Oxford Women in Business Events Co-Director, Head of Décor for Lincoln Ball 2018 and President of the University’s ambassadors for the breast cancer education charity CoppaFeel!. During my time at Oxford I’ve also enjoyed getting involved in outreach work, both as a college ambassador and working on the University’s UNIQ Summer School. I’m a lover of interior design, Wes Anderson aesthetic and videography.

Brahma Mohanty

Hi there! My name's Brahma and I'm a postgraduate student, soon to complete my MSc at Kellogg College. This is my second stint with the Forum having previously worked with the committee in 2016/2017. Outside of the Forum, I served on the committees of both the Oxford University Labour Club, and the Oxford Union, and I was appointed a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2017. I'm also a keen American Football and Judo player, as well as a fanatical Manchester City fan (a red in political terms, but a true blue in the footballing sense).
